Considered today as the national hero of the Czech Republic, Jan Zizka is best known for his role in the Battle of Grunwald against the Teutonic Knights and in the civil wars in Bohemia. In the movie, the fate of Zizka and his men intersects with the fate of a female heir, and the struggle begins with a rival king for the equality of the Czech people. Michael Caine plays Lord Boresh, chief adviser to Czech King Wenceslas IV, while William Moseley plays Jaroslav, Jan’s hunting brother. Jaroslav, kidnapped by Torak (Roland Moller), is traded for Katherine (Sophie Lowe).
