It has been 20 years since the last movie of the series, and John Rambo, now based in northern Thailand, runs a boat that runs on the Salween River. One of the longest-running civil wars in the world that continues on the Thailand-Burma border has entered its 60th year. However, Rambo, who now lives by fishing in the mountains and forests, selling poisonous snakes he hunts, and living a lonely and simple life, has long given up on fighting or pursuing rebels or volunteers. This all changes when a group of human rights missionaries comes in and starts searching for an American river guide John Rambo.
