Tabu 2012
Taboo 2012 Film “I think there is a connection between cinema and memory. Memory can be heaven or hell.” Miguel Gomes (Director) Acclaimed director Miguel Gomes (“Our Favorite Month of August”) returns with a wonderful and somewhat interesting two-part story. The story is about a recklessly grumpy woman living in present-day Lisbon. When Aurora is hospitalized, her neighbor asks Pilar to inform a man named Gian Luca about her condition. Pilar’s adventure designed to fulfill her friend’s wish takes us to Africa fifty years ago. There we see Aurora again. This time around, Aurora is the beautiful wife of a wealthy young farmer. However, Aurora has an affair with her husband’s best friend, Gian Luca. Their heartfelt, poetic stories are told in the voice of old Gian Luca.
